Bringing data to life with mapping technology

Maps provide a unique way of bringing data to life using a visual method of presenting data that would usually only be visible in an Excel style spreadsheet.  For example mapping the location of all Advanced Skills Teachers will clearly show any gaps throughout an LA or region.

Any data that is currently held where a geographical location can be established (e.g. postcode) can be plotted on a map. This can include live data – providers, courses, users, organisations, evaluations, survey results…

Maps can be used to present publically accessible data.  For example when searching for courses using CPD Online, results could be displayed in their current format or plotted onto a map (showing users distance to travel).  Additionally users could filter their results by location (e.g. only show courses within 10 miles of my home establishment).
